Welcome to the first post to the Texas Military Aviation Journal. This blog site's purpose is to be a prototype for an online magazine that focuses on Texas Military Aviation. This has been a dream of mine for over twenty years and finally I am able to accomplish this via the digital medium.
I have been an avid aviation photographer for around twenty years starting way back in my college days at UT Arlington. I would go out to the now defunct NAS Dallas and watch military jets at their best. I met some really great guys there and saved up and bought my first 35mm SLR. I learned a lot from these guys and built friendships that lasts until today. For several years I enjoyed NAS Dallas and Carswell AFB. I didnt realize how good I had it at the time. After college I moved back to my hometown and settled in to raise a family. Several years went by and my shooting time diminished but I still attended one or two shows a year.
Recently, a job change brought me back to the DFW area and I was able to renew friendships from many years ago. One of the biggest changes was the switch from film to digital. What a change and I will comment on that on future posts. Another big plus was my older son joining me in this great hobby.
My plans are to post some new stuff and some old stuff from the past in this blog. I like this format because I can post my thoughts and comments. Please feel free to add your comments as well.
Once again Welcome and I look forward to seeing everyone online.
